Black Lives Matter / Indigenous Lives Matter #blackouttuesday 🖤❤️💛
As life has unfolded around us these past months, I have been heartbroken, incredulous — and quiet. Other brave souls did better than me, and I honour them. I honour my beautiful friend Bridget who is an aged care nurse and a mum, who still found time to bring us home made apricot jam and seeds for our veggie patch. I honour my sisters who are working from home, schooling their kids, and keeping their families safe, fed and loved. I honour the leaders who carry the weight of our safety. I honour all the cheerful, kind neighbours we’ve met on our daily walks. I honour my yoga teacher colleagues who have all stepped up to offer online classes with such grace. I honour my husband who refused to get down even though he’s unable to work or earn, and built us a new deck instead. And this is just my little bubble. Everywhere we turn, people are doing it hard. The magnitude of the suffering, the weight of it, and my guilt and gratitude for my own safety have kept me silent. Holding the baby just that bit tighter.
But when I look forward, as I have learnt to do, not for me but for the just-born generation who will shoulder such a job of healing and rebuilding, I want to both record what is, and also imagine what might be. We have to dare to imagine it. Because nothing has ever mattered more. • • • • •

It’s amazing what you notice when you’re paying attention — can you see the little fella hiding here? 🌱
Today, some musings on why Yoga and mindfulness matter so much, especially when you’re too busy for them... Written for my friend Em’s blog — link in bio.
Oh, Bali. You are so lovely.
Us, meeting for the first time on the dance floor at a wedding. And then us at our own! Because sometimes life turns out so much better than anything you could dare to imagine ✨
Yoga often begins as a bandaid: a once-a-week patch-up job to counter the rest of our stressy, messy lives. But that 8-limbed path is one slippery slope 🍌 And the journey towards the horizons of both body and mind can become your best work.
So don't be afraid of what lies within you. It might just make you free.
Yoga is not someone telling us what shapes to make. That's Twister. Yoga is the practice of deep listening to body and mind - hearing what is longing to be heard, and moving in ways which are useful, unique and empowering. This sweet being ☝️has claimed self-sovereignty as her birthright. How might your practice help you to find some, too?
Some days, the yoga mat (or the world at large) doesn't feel very safe, and all we long for is comfort.
☁️🙈
Give yourself permission to hide when you need to. Soften down, let go, and come home to the self that waits so patiently. .
